Aisa sadak wahan banaya to sarkar tekedaar ka sar kalam kar dega !!

The rains have started and the roads have shown their true colours (or rather texture and discontinuity) again. The BMC promises each time that the road will last a lifetime and each time they screw up leaving momentos for the season. A small set of problems for an already screwed up administration. The ever busy Amar Mahal Junction always recieves a patchwork which can be compared to a plastic surgeon working on a warfront.... a 10 ft wide road (not to forget the road ain't wide enough) marred by 6 ft potholes.... what a sight !!It is not a problem of technology... its a problem of non-performance fines that dont work. The same contractors are known to take up road contracts elsewhere, namely UAE, Qatar, Oman where the road is like.... wow ... :).... when it comes to working on domestic contracts, they decide that each journey must be a pilgrimage full of pain, suffering and a broken back. It is the scare of stiff fines and unbearable punishment that will bring out the best performance from these such people. Till then the tax-payer will continue to feed the snake and get bitten in return. All this reminds me of a dialogue my driving instructor (who just returned after a brief stint as a chauffeur from Saudi Arabia) said a long time back... "Aisa sadak wahan banayega to sarkar tekedaar ka sar kalam kar dega"... roughly transalated as "If such roads are made there (Saudi Arabia), the government will behead the contractor"

WTF.... Shilpa Shetty gets doctorate for stripping and poor acting X-(

http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1110500The most hilarious nonsense that any university of the world can do is to give an actor a doctorate. I mean what has Shilpa Shetty done for Indian cinema or cinema as a whole what she deserves this honour. HAs Dadasaheb Phalke been awarded a similar honour even if it is posthomous. For that matter the yesteryears actors/directors/singers have done wonders on Indian Sinema given their backwardness in technology. With todays computer aided editing and animation all the actor has to do is look good. A good technician can fix things without much ado. So why does a third rate actress like Shilpa Shetty DESERVE to have a doctorate. What has she or for that matter any actor (e.g. Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan or any other money-minded quisling of a businessman) done for Indian Cinema or more to say "Bollywood" than produce mushy love stories in picture perfect countries. Coming back to the topic what has Shilpa Shetty done except for acting like a contestant in a wet T-Shirt competition and dancing like being struck down with fitsComing to the credentials of the university..... a university must pride itself with the graduates/undergraduates it produces. No self-respecting university will SELL degrees like Leeds Metropolitan University has done. A graduate gets associated to a university for life. It is highly unbecoming of a university to give out honours like this to undeserved candidates. I WILL CALL IT DISRESPECTFUL TO ALL THE HARDWORKING DOCTORATES WHO HAVE WORDED HARD TO BE AT THE TOP OF TRADE. In that respect, Shilpa Shetty is not a topper in her trade. At this rate, we can only laugh out loud when Rakhi Sawant is given out a "Honorary Doctorate" for her efforts to promote dirty dancing, B-Grade films, absolute contempt for clothing, third rate voice and a false sense of woman's emancipation :P ...... ABSOLUTE CRAP !!!
