Basking in someone else's glory - Indian media's goofed up coverage of Sunita Williams
All the week, the Indian media spent worthless time covering the "Landing of Sunita Williams after a record-breaking space journey" little caring about which country she really represents.... India or USA !!There's a serious lack of perspective plaguing the Indian media wherin anyone remotely associated with India (read Kalpana Chawla who is essentially an immigrant who left India for a better life in the West) was treated like a martyr of an Indian adventure. Second in line is Sunita Williams, a second generation American citizen who has made America proud... not India. What roots does she have in India ?? Did she graduate here ? Just coz she has a family in India doesn't make Sunita Williams landing a top story on the evening news... not to forget the 24 hour repetition like a cheap action movie. It is this borrowed glory that paints a bad light and a sick picture of the Indian media. I don't expect them to learn too much... they are always in for the 3rd rate coverage and cheap stunts... so what the hell... go and watch Cartoon Network and act like nothing happened :D
